2019 Wealthy Affiliates Review: Find Out Today If It’s Worth Your Time!

SCAM. That word sends angry tingles up and down my fingers, thinking of the money I’ve spent online trying to set myself up for the future and discovering that I was lining some smug internet pockets. I work a regular job and am in school as well, so finding ways to supplement my income is a must to help pay down my student loans. When I ran across Wealthy Affiliates, I had to take a long, hard look to see if this was yet one more.

There are a hundred and one programs that say that they want to help you earn money, work from home, and become financially independent, but do they really? It’s important to do your research before you invest in any program that is offering education and promises good things – and I’ve already done that here for you! Let’s take a look at one of the most popular – Wealthy Affiliates.

What is Wealthy Affiliate?

Wealthy Affiliate was started in 2005 by Kyle Loudon and Carson Lim, successful entrepreneurs from British Colombia, Canada. It was founded as an initiative to help other people succeed online, and to provide education relevant to doing so. In September of 2005, Wealthy Affiliate started as a membership-based keyword list site, offering lists of relevant keywords to internet marketers in a wide variety of niches.

The price of WA in 2005 was $29.95/mo and provided one keyword list per week. The website upgraded after their business grew, and the WA forum provided a place for members to share marketing information. They added training modules for those who were just getting started with internet marketing, and in 2007, created the website that today is known as Wealthy Affiliate.

In 2007 they began hosting sites for their members, providing a space for internet marketers to start from ground zero in content, site, and brand creation. Kyle and Carson are still very much involved in the community at Wealthy Affiliate, providing live video training, recorded training, and innovating new marketing trends as the internet changes.

What Do They Promise?

I will tell you right off of the bat: Wealthy Affiliate doesn’t promise that you’ll make money fast. They do, however, promise that if you follow the training and the rules of the internet, that you will be able to make a sustainable income using the website.

One of the misconceptions is that online money is easy money. Wealthy Affiliate places the responsibility of earning money into your hands and then promises to give you the tools to make it happen. They offer mentoring support, a forum full of experience and helpful people, tons of training, and a free website.

They promise all of this – and that you can start it all for free. You don’t need a credit card to sign up, and you’ll be able to get your online business started, for free. Wealthy Affiliate promises that you will be successful – if you follow the training, work your butt off, and be willing to learn. Sounds good, right?

What Do They Deliver?

What Wealthy Affiliate delivers is slightly different than other programs you may have seen online. Instead of “access” and abandonment, you get much more – right away!

Indeed, signing up gets you access to the website, with real, workable site functions, complete access to the forums, and even access to some of the premium features for up to 7 days.

Yep – right there, I said “Premium”.

Dangit, you think. I have to pay for this after all.

Nope! In fact, you can go through the first level of training, create your website, make some money, and still not pay a cent.

The “Premium” membership, though, gives you 24/7 access to help, and some quality of life functions that can augment your success. It will also give you access to weekly live training video sessions, unlimited support, tools, and more access to training modules.

Approximately 1 in 8 people make the jump from “freemium” to “premium”.

The difference with Wealthy Affiliate is not only the community, but the constant push for you to keep working, and the support that is available when you’re stuck. It doesn’t matter if you’re struggling with pictures, affiliate links, or just getting around a writer’s block, there are people to help you.

How Do You Fit In?

So, you’ve decided to give this free stuff a shot, and sign up. Then what? Well, if you jump into the training right away, your first couple lessons will get you started on what affiliate marketing is, and how to build your website. You can literally have your website up and started on content the first day

Not only are you encouraged to work on content – but to work on content you love. Wealthy Affiliate doesn’t promote specific niches, instead, it promotes content. If you’re passionate about something: camping, dogs, broccoli, or pens, write about it! That will shine through, and people will see that YOU are an expert! Whenever you buy something, you do your research about it, right? That’s where you come in. Other programs encourage you to follow niches that are popular – but it’s impossible to keep writing about something you aren’t passionate about.

That’s where affiliate links come in. Wealthy Affiliate will help you set up affiliate relationships so that when people read your articles and click your links, they are sent to the places you recommend. As an affiliate, you will then receive compensation for sending people to places where they buy stuff.

Easy peasy, right? Well, sort of.

Wealthy Affiliate gives you the tools, but they are absolutely clear that nothing happens overnight, and all of it takes work and patience.

“What is all this about writing? I can’t write!” You don’t have to be a writer –  you just need to be able to communicate to people, the same way that you tell them about your new favorite thing you just bought. Everyone tells people stuff like this – just write like you’re talking to someone on the street.

Determination:

Wealthy Affiliate is totally worth your time IF:

  • You are willing to work hard
  • You don’t expect it to give you money the first day
  • You are passionate enough about something to tell someone about it
  • You are willing to grow and learn
  • You are committed to patience, persistence, and dedication
